Roots
Dojo: A Japanese word meaning, a place where you learn the way – most often referring to a space set aside for training in some kind of discipline.
From a church upbringing, to rebellious teen years, to falling head-long into the “roar of His waterfall”… Obtaining a Masters of Divinity and planting a church – After a 10 year stint in formal service I resigned (at least from the formal stuff). That was about 5 years ago. Our family has been unsettled and in transition ever since.
Over the last year or so (2009) we’ve contemplated our next move and decided to attempt to form an intentional faith community, starting with our family. A friend of mine in San Francisco started a non-profit called ReImagine, which subsequently hosts learning labs, commune in Tribes, and engage in what they call Jesus Dojo(s), and more. We’ve adopted this concept as a family practice and perhaps in the future hope to invite others into our rhythm.
